WAI & AINA

WAI & AINA

Sacred waters rise from the earth and flow from snowmelt off Mauna Kea, gathering through rainfall in the Hakalau Forest Reserve above us. These streams make their way through the land, becoming Kahuna Falls, before joining Kolekole Stream and eventually reaching the Pacific Ocean. The falls that give Kahuna Falls its name—and the stewardship of these waters—are held with deep care and reverence.

The ʻāina is richly cultivated and cherished, home to eleven varieties of banana trees, rainbow eucalyptus, paperbark eucalyptus, neighboring bamboo forest, towering pines, and lush ferns. The central courtyard bursts with sensual hibiscus blooms and is peppered with orchids, while grassy knolls overlook the ocean and invite rest, reflection, and stargazing.
